I started out writing code in San Diego, then spent a decade on the other side of it, working with business owners at companies like Mindbody and Xplor on the software their operations actually run on. Scheduling, payments, customer records, marketing. Thousands of conversations with owners about what was working and what was quietly costing them money.

The same pattern showed up everywhere. The owner was excellent at the actual work and losing jobs to competitors who were worse at it but easier to find and faster to answer. A lead would come in and sit for six hours. A thrilled customer would never get asked for a review. A finished job would end the relationship instead of starting the next one.
